Sailboat on Lake George
5x7 watercolor in 11x14 mat, $50
This is another watercolor done from a photo I snapped while sailing on Lake George with my dad. I'm pretty sure it was the same trip where I snapped the photo for this painting.
I think it's safe to say that Lake George is my muse. I'm so Georgia O'Keefe.
Prints are available through ImageKind for as little as 8.49!

Harp
This painting was commissioned by a friend for her sister and her husband who just had their first baby. They named their baby Harp after the instrument that was played in their wedding, but I’m sure it isn’t a coincidence that it’s also the name of a beer. The proud daddy owns a beer outlet in New York City. Hopefully they display it there and not in the baby’s room!

Publicity is good
If it isn't completely obvious by the giant scrolling sidebar on the right side of this page, I have prints of my artwork available through ImageKind.com. Today I was featured on their homepage! I don't know how long it will be up so check it out while you can. They are featuring the illustration I did of my dad playing the cello.
Dear cello enthusiasts: I am aware that his arm is not in the proper position. I stylized it because I'm an artist and I just can.
Thanks for stopping by!

Post-it note art
I had a hankering for drawing at work one day so I started drawing some random stuff. Here are some examples. I drew the elephant like 15 times - each time i just did it in a few seconds. Lesson learned: elephants are hard to draw.

Downtown LA
SOLD
This was painted from a photo I snapped while at the Griffith Observatory. I think it's safe to say this is pretty impressionistic.
This is another 5x7 and is a combination of watercolor, pen, and gouache.
Prints are available through ImageKind for as little as 8.49!

Foreboding sky over Lake George
SOLD
This is a watercolor I did from one of my favorite photos I have taken of Lake George. I was out with my dad on his sailboat as a storm blew in from the north. We were anxiously trying to head back to the boathouse at Silver Bay before the rain came. While my dad was busy jibbing and tagging, I was snapping photos of the beautiful sky. We made it back just as the rain started to come down.
This is a 5x7 watercolor; still trying to get my skills honed in this medium.
Prints are available through ImageKind for as little as 8.49!

Obampkin
In the spirit of election season, my company's suite entered an Obampkin in our pumpkin carving contest. I painted it with the Obama logo and then we carved out the continents on top. We'll see if we win! But more importantly: I hope we win on Tuesday.

Hectic and Eclectic
I recently participated in my first art show! It was called Hectic and Eclectic and was a collection of some LA artists. It was a lot of fun... and it was nice to finally take some of my pieces out of the closet and get them into frames! Lots of my friends came out for it. It was a great time.

Sailboats
Sometimes when I go to the beach, there are clusters of white sailboats off on the horizon. Possibly a sailing class going originating from Marina del Rey. I love the contrast of all of the white sails against the blue sky and ocean - so cool and calming.
I tried something different with this piece - I did an ink drawing, scanned it, converted it to vector, and then colorized in Illustrator. I like this way of working because it combines by fondness of ink drawings with the flexibility of computers (not to mention there's no clean-up!)

Doom of Love in Small Spaces
I can't believe I never posted this... I did this illustration over the winter for Realms of Fantasy Magazine. It was for a really interesting, allegorical story called "The Doom of Love in Small Spaces" by Ken Scholes. It was in the May issue.. unfortunately, a quick google search did not reveal any online versions of the story.

View from Santa Monica Beach
To kick off our 4th of July weekend o' fun, Rachel and I hit the beach after our half day of work last Thursday. I sketched our office building, 100 Wilshire (the tall one), and the condos and other building along Ocean Ave, while soaking up the sun.
I got very sunburned while drawing this.

tagged!
I was tagged by Miss Shey on her blog, One Eye Open. Thanks Shey!
1. What did you do 10 years ago?
Summer of ‘98 I was between my junior and senior year of high school, working at Target, going to lots of concerts, hanging out at the park with my friends – you know, living the dream!
2. Five items on your to-do list today:
design a couple of brochures, finish the palm tree drawing on lunch break (I didn’t – see the half finished drawing below), pack for my rafting trip, dinner & drinks with my roommates, post on my blog
3. Snacks that you enjoy
cheez-its, grapes, 365 brand real-fruit Caribbean flavored popsicles, pita chips & hummus, trail mix
4. What would you do if you were a billionaire?
Wow, my brain hurts thinking of the possibilities. One thing would be to take my whole family on a cruise. A big fancy one.
5. Places that you would live:
Saratoga Springs, NY; Louisville, KY; Middlebury, VT; San Francisco, CA; Chicago, IL
6. Bloggers to whom you are passing the challenge:

Reinventing Louisville
I did this illustration for the May issue of Louisville Magazine. It is for an article called "Reinventing Louisville" by John Gilderbloom & Matt Hanka. The article throws out some ideas to make Louisville a bustling, thriving downtown. The whole issue is about downtown Louisville - plans for the future, what it's like to live downtown, etc. It's a fantastic issue - I encourage any fans of Louisville to purchase a back issue.

Bohannon Vanilla Creme beer
When I visited Nashville, my boyfriend's dad had 2 Bohannon Vanilla Creme beers stashed away in his fridge. I was lucky enough to try this delicious beer (which has since been discontinued). It tastes like cream soda. Mmmmmm.

Katy reading Metromix
A quick sketch on my lunch break. Me & my girlfriends take a quilt out onto the grass in front of the building... which is oceanside. It's like a mini beach day in the middle of the work day.
This drawing is of Katy. See her photography & other creative work at her blog, Katy Creative.
